Electronic Version of Our Book

We have had several requests for an electronic version of our virtual globe book.  I'm happy to say that it is now available on VitalSource.  You can read it on your desktop or transfer it to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.  This electronic version is discounted, and there are rental options that cost even less.  Pretty cool.

Update: Unfortunately, VitalSource only accepts credit cards from the US and Canada because of rights issues with some publishers. Our publisher, CRC Press, is working on a new website that will solve this problem. We'll keep you posted.

  1. Great news, but do you plan on any physical+ebook deals? I'd like to buy both, but there's no way the electronic version is worth $40 as a supplement to the hardcover.

  2. Good question. I have no idea; I'll ask our publisher.

  3. Currently, the hard-copy and electronic-copy are in different systems, so there is not a bundle. Sounds like they are working on a new system, but I'm not sure when that will be ready.

  4. I tried to purchase an ebook on vitalsource website but it wants school name to complete an order. Is that possible to but that ebook without school name? I am professsional, not student but want to learn about 3D engine for virtual globe for orbital flight simulator programming more. Thanks.

  5. Hi Tim,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Vitalsource is a less-than-ideal solution in many ways, and we're working with our publisher to provide something better, but there's no ETA on that, yet. I just checked it out, though, and you can type in any school name you want, even a made up one. I'm not sure why they ask that question, especially considering that most of our readers are, like you, professionals rather than students.

On a related note, I am now entitled to a 180 day rental of a book I wrote. Haha, oh well!

Let me know if you have any trouble, and thank you for your interest in our book.
