Book Update

We have some exciting book-related updates. For starters, we made a small website for our book, www.virtualglobebook.com, and posted several samples:
We also found our book on the cover the latest CRC Press catalog. Exciting! Finally, we wrote a short book-related article in our company's newsletter.

Things are wrapping up nicely and I suspect the manuscript will be off to the printer any day now.

  1. I've had your book on pre-order with Amazon (UK) for a while now, and its currently showing a dispatch date of "12th - 27th May".

I've been eagerly checking every day to see if its been dispatched yet, but alas it hasn't. However, I've just read your above post (Dated 16th May) which end "I suspect the manuscript will be off to the printer any day now.".

If it hadn't even been sent to the printers yet (on 16th), then I guess it wont be out for a little while yet? Do you have an ETA?

    Looking forward to reading it.

Also note that the www.virtualglobebook.com website doesn't appear to be working at the moment.

  3. Once it goes to the printer, I think it takes about eight weeks. The plan has always been to have the book out in time for SIGGRAPH (early August). I'm not sure why the Amazon date has not reflected this. I'll check with our publisher and try to get an accurate date posted on Amazon.

Thanks so much for your enthusiasm. Check out the samples we posted, if you haven't already, in the meantime.

  5. Just to let you know, I just got this update from Amazon (UK):

    "Hello,

We regret to inform you that the following items have been delayed as we are still
awaiting stock from our suppliers :

Patrick Cozzi, Kevin Ring "3D Engine Design for Virtual Globes"
    Estimated arrival date: June 11 2011 - June 29 2011
    "

So it looks like they've still got the date wrong. :(

  7. Amazon is shipping our book now. We know of some readers that have already received their copy. Oddly, Kevin and I haven't received our copies yet :(
